The Transfer Challenge

As a transfer student, you only have a couple of years to get to know campus resources, faculty, staff and fellow students. Sign up today to participate in the Fall Quarter Transfer Challenge and experience some of the amazing things that UC San Diego has to offer.  The Transfer Challenge is created for first-year transfer students, and is designed to help you:

  • Meet other new transfer students - attend activities and complete challenges together!
  • Learn about campus resources AND yourself as you earn points that lead to great prizes

Turn your POINTS into PRIZES!
  • 40-60 Points:  College T-Shirt
  • 60-75 Points:  Gift Card
  • 75+ Points: Gift Card and AND College T-shirt

Welcome Week Challenge: College Connections

Activity (10 points):  Attend UnOlympics with your College
  • Date: Wednesday, September 26
  • Time: 1-4 pm
  • Location: Spanos Track and Field (Near RIMAC)

UnOlympics is a UCSD Tradition and a Welcome Week favorite!  The Undergraduate Colleges come together and compete for the Golden Shoe trophy and bragging rights for the year.  The event features team competitions and a dance performance.  Check the Welcome Week calendar and join your College for a practice session to learn the dance, and on the field for a fun, funny, and energizing time - this is one for your UC San Diego bucket list for sure!

Complete the Week 0 submission form by Monday, October 1, 2018* and tell us about your experience at UnOlympics to earn 10 points!


Challenge (5 points):  Take a selfie on the field during UnOlympics

Bonus (2 points): Follow Your College on Social Media

By following your College on social media, not only do you hear about some of the things that are happening - that YOU can get involved with! - but you can also interact with other students, enter contests, and connect to your College.

Week 1 Challenge: Academic Connections

Activity (10 points): Tour the Geisel Library

Join us to learn more about the famous Geisel Library and how you can best use this resource.  This guided tour of the  library showcases the wide variety of study spaces, library collections, technologies, equipment, and amenities available to you.  RSVP for one of two dates for this activity so that we can let the tour guide know how many to expect.

  • Date: Wednesday, October 3 
  • Time: 11:00-12:00 pm
  • Location: Geisel Library lobby

  • Date: Thursday, October 4 
  • Time: 1:00-2:00 pm
  • Location: Geisel Library lobby
Complete the Week 1 submission form by Monday, October 8, 2018* and tell us about your experience with the Library Tour to earn 10 points!

Challenge (5 points):  Connect with a Professor or TA at Office Hours

  • Write down all of your professor/TA Office Hours on the Challenge Worksheet
  • Attend office hours with at least one professor/TA and have them sign off on your worksheet
Submit your signed worksheet via the Week 1 submission form by Monday, October 8, 2018* to earn 5 points!

Bonus Points (2 points): Participate in the Dine with a Prof or Coffee with a Prof Program

Student Affairs and The Undergraduate Colleges provide opportunities for students to engage with current faculty or TAs over coffee or lunch for FREE!  

Submit a copy of your voucher or program registration via the Week 1 submission form by Monday, October 8, 2018* to earn 2 bonus points!

*Participants should make every attempt to submit verification required to receive points by Noon on the Monday following the Challenge.  However, we understand that schedules may prevent that on a weekly basis so our final deadline for all submissions will be Noon on Monday, October 29.  Entries received after the final program deadline will not be awarded.
